US EPA Small Business Information

How Can Businesses Benefit From the Materials in the Clearinghouse?

The US EPA and many States have compliance incentives policies that waive or reduce penalties for violations discovered through the use of compliance assistance materials, audits, mentoring, or training programs. As a compliance assistance provider you may want to provide information to businesses that you work with about these programs.

Tools for Small Business

Many of the compliance assistance resources listed in the Clearinghouse can be of direct benefit to small businesses. In addition to these subject-specific resources, small business owners (and assistance providers working with them) may want to review the following resources which deal with the US EPA's policies specifically designed to help small businesses.

EPA Overview: Small Business Compliance and Enforcement provides an overview of EPA's policies regarding small businesses.
The Small Business Compliance Policy is for businesses with 100 or fewer employees.
The Audit Policy is for businesses of any size.
The Small Communities Policy is for small governments.

The use of these policies by businesses or governments is completely voluntary.
