Annotation:
In this article, three experts address means of increasing the attraction and sustainability of growing urban environments. Jim Schwab recommends addressing the problems of social equity , environmental health, and economic well-being in developing a sustainable growth plan. Edward Macie argues that the environmental consequences of urbanization must be addressed at each stage of development. To this end, technology can be adapted to improve land use planning. Judy Corbett invokes the principles developed by California's Local Government Commission in 1991, which identify the needs of communities, regional principles, and implementation strategies.
